Is the loud minority hurting our personal relationships?
It’s fun to write a fictional character who is an extreme version of an everyday person. But the very reason why it’s fun to write and read about an extreme character and their fictional actions is because of the drama.
In our online lives, there are extremists in just about every area of discussion. Usually, they’re confined to posts on social media or news, so it’s easy to simply not read what they’ve written.
But, when you’re having a conversation in real life, does an extreme perspective help or hinder your understanding of a person’s perspective, the underlying issue, and possibly finding a resolution?
